The fraternity and sorority community at The University of Alabama is one of the largest and most vibrant in the United States.

With around 12,000 students, the UA Greek community comprises 36 percent of the undergraduate student body and is home to 71 social Greek-letter organizations. Since Fall 2011, The University of Alabama has held the coveted honor of being the largest fraternity and sorority community in the nation with regard to overall fraternity and sorority membership.

The University of Alabama is committed to maintaining a supportive, educational environment that seeks to enhance the well-being of all members of its community. The EthicsPoint Hazing Reporting Form, hosted by third party provider, Navex Global, allows for both anonymous and personally identifiable reports of Student Code of Conduct violations. UA Greek Ambassadors are a group of students selected to serve as official ambassadors for the Greek Community at UA. They provide prospective students with insight into the Greek community. Check out the Greek Ambassadors page to find out more or to schedule a tour during the school year.

Greek Points

Greek Points were created to encourage the Greek community to foster relationships with members in different organizations other than their own. Greek Points provide the opportunity to come together and serve the campus and the University in service and philanthropic efforts. The goal of the Greek Programming Board and the Greek point system is that members will leave the university with friends in not only their own Greek Chapter but with friends in all four councils.

While each fraternity or sorority has different membership processes, there are some general guidelines and helpful tips that can help a potential new member maximize their opportunity to receive join an organization during the Formal Recruitment process.
